when I try to download a WB skin I get a dialog box saying "wbload.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close..." so its not lettting me install the skins directly. I have to right click on the link and "save as.." this has never happed before. I am running the latest WB verion, I also tried uninstalling and installing WB again but it keeps on doing the same. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem?

try this uninstall windowblinds. restart computer. then once computer back on type in the run box "regedit" without the quotes. then in there click on the edit menu and select find. search for all instances of windowblinds and delete them by selecting find again and deleting each instance. do the same for wbload.exe. then go into the windowblinds folder and delete everything but the themes (Them too if you want to and aren't sure). now restart. once the computer is back up reinstall windowblinds.

*note* changing things in your registry is dangerous. make sure you back it up first. In the file menu choose export and save the whole registry. if you messed up the registry and stuff stops working you can import that registry file back in and it should fix it.

Once you have downloaded a skin and want to apply it you need to right click on your desktop and click on properties...then appearance to pick your skin. I had a problem simliar to this and got the same error message until I started accessing my skins this way. Hope this helps.

I did what you said Travis and it still didnt work.. im thinking it might be something wrong with IE that's causing that problem I tried downloading skins through WC sking browser and it does install directly so wbload.exe its working fine but not when i do it over the web.. dunno what can be the problem but I'll just keep doing it with WC browser. Thank you for the help.

Try deleting your temporary internet files - it worked for me.

IE > Tools > Internet Options > General > delete files

I didn't need to delete my cookies.

You're welcome.

It also makes "view source" work again, and allows the saving of web pics as jpegs (both in IE) - why this is, I don't know.
